Privacy Policy | Vernissage Chrome Extension

The short version

Vernissage collects no personal data. Your artwork collections and room configurations are stored entirely on your own device. The only external contact the extension makes is to validate a Pro license key — and only if you choose to upgrade. No browsing data, no tracking, no accounts.

What we collect

CSS Cove does not collect, store, or process any personal information. Your artwork collections, custom room names, and display preferences are saved locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to CSS Cove or any third party.

There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no analytics, and no behavioural tracking of any kind built into Vernissage.

Vernissage Pro and license validation

Vernissage offers an optional one-time Pro upgrade. If you choose to purchase and activate a Pro license, the following applies:

Payment: Processed entirely by Payhip. CSS Cove never receives, stores, or has access to your payment details. Payhip's own privacy policy governs any data collected during checkout.
License validation: When you enter a license key, the extension sends that key to a Cloudflare Worker operated by CSS Cove solely to confirm it is valid. The license key itself is stored locally on your device. No other information is transmitted.
Periodic revalidation: Once activated, the extension silently re-checks your license key at most once every 7 days to confirm it remains valid. Only the license key is sent — no personal data, no browsing history, and no artwork data is ever included in these requests.

If you never upgrade to Pro, no external network requests are made by the extension at any time.

Permissions used

Vernissage requests only the permissions required for its core features. No permission is used to monitor, track, or collect data about you or your browsing.

Permission	Why it's needed

contextMenus	Adds the "Save to Vernissage" option when you right-click an image on any webpage.
sidePanel	Opens the Vernissage gallery in Chrome's side panel.
tabs	Opens the Wall View in a new tab and the Payhip checkout page when you choose to upgrade.

Third-party services

Vernissage does not integrate with any analytics, advertising, or data collection services. The only third-party contact the extension makes is:

Payhip: For Pro license purchases only. Governed by Payhip's Privacy Policy.
Cloudflare Workers: A lightweight proxy operated by CSS Cove used exclusively to validate license keys. No personal data is logged or stored by this service.

No data is sent to Google, Meta, or any other advertising or analytics platform by the extension itself. (This website, csscove.ca, uses Google Analytics separately — that does not affect the extension.)

Your data, your control

Because all artwork data is stored locally on your device, you are in complete control at all times. You can clear your Vernissage data at any point by:

Removing the extension from Chrome
Clearing Chrome's extension storage via chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
Using the reset option within the extension itself (when available)

Uninstalling Vernissage removes all locally stored data permanently, including your Pro license status. Your Payhip license key itself remains valid and can be re-entered if you reinstall.

Children's privacy

Vernissage does not collect any data from any user, regardless of age. The extension is suitable for use by all ages and complies fully with COPPA and equivalent regulations by virtue of collecting no personal data whatsoever.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date at the top will reflect that change. Any meaningful change will also be noted in the extension's Chrome Web Store update notes.
