Vernissage collects nothing. The extension does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal information. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.
Your artwork collections, custom room names, and display preferences are saved locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to CSS Cove or any other party.
Vernissage requests only the permissions required for its core features. No permission is used to monitor, track, or collect data about you or your browsing.
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
| storage | Saves your artwork collections and room configurations locally on your device. |
| newtab | Replaces the new tab page with the Vernissage gallery experience. |
Vernissage does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services. No data is sent to Google, Meta, or any other external platform.
Artwork images displayed within the extension are sourced from publicly available, open-access museum collections. Vernissage does not transmit any of your personal data to those sources โ image requests are standard browser fetch calls with no identifying information attached beyond what your browser sends by default.
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you are in complete control at all times. You can clear your Vernissage data at any point by:
Uninstalling Vernissage removes all locally stored data permanently.
Vernissage does not collect any data from any user, regardless of age. The extension is suitable for use by all ages and complies fully with COPPA and equivalent regulations by virtue of collecting no data whatsoever.
If the privacy policy ever changes โ for example, if a future version of Vernissage introduces optional cloud sync โ this page will be updated and the "last updated" date at the top will reflect that change. Any meaningful change will also be noted in the extension's Chrome Web Store update notes.
